Brief History of First Christian Church - Kirksville

Our church was organized during the winter of 1845 and worshiped for several years in the old courthouse. In 1871, the current site was purchased. We had a brown frame building that was replaced with a brick structure and remodeled a couple of times. Later, in 1954, our present Education Building was built and by 1971 our beautiful Sanctuary, anchored by the bell tower was dedicated.

The great curved wall encloses the congregation as if in the hand of God; the skylight symbolically unifies all participants and helps draw them together. The natural light filtering into the Sanctuary through the skylight, emphasizes man's unity with nature.
